Zack Greinke fans three Twins in no decision Tuesday

by Luke Monaldo | Wed, Sep 21st 2:11am EDT

Zack Greinke pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on 10 hits and zero walks while striking out three in Kansas City’s 5-4 victory over the Twins on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Greinke surrendered 10 hits including four doubles to Minnesota but most of the damage came in a three-run 3rd inning. Greinke’s offense got him off the hook in a rare poor home start. Greinke remains at 4-9 with a 4.21 ERA, 1.39 WHIP, and 70 strikeouts in 124 innings across 24 starts this season. Greinke has always pitched to a lot of contact and has given up his fair share of hits but the 38-year-old isn’t missing many bats these days causing him to be on pace for his first non-triple digit strikeout total in a non-Pandemic-shortened season since 2006. That season Greinke pitched just 6 1/3 innings in relief as he dealt with mental health issues. Greinke’s next start is scheduled for Sunday against the Mariners.
