Jacob deGrom shockingly gets beat up against A's on Saturday

by Dan Harris | Rangers Correspondent | Sat, Sep 24th 7:02pm EDT

Jacob deGrom allowed five runs on six hits and four walks over four innings on Saturday against the A's. He struck out five and took the loss, falling to 5-3.

Fantasy Impact:

deGrom's outing was shocking in every way possible. Against the lowly A's, he allowed more than three runs for the first time in 40 starts and his four walks allowed matched his total for the entire season. deGrom's velocity was down a tick but he still hit 100 MPH with his fastball, and it seemed to be more of an issue with his command than his velocity. Unless we hear otherwise, just chalk this up to the rarest of off-days for the best pitcher in the game, and obviously continue to start him with confidence next week against the Braves.
