Kyle Gibson allows five runs in loss to Braves

by Dan Harris | Cardinals Correspondent | Sun, Sep 25th 10:39pm EDT

Kyle Gibson allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings on Sunday against the Braves. He struck out nine and did not factor into the decision.

Fantasy Impact:

The nine strikeouts were impressive, especially coming over just five innings, but it is hardly a consolation to Gibson's fantasy managers. His season-long numbers now sit at a 4.84 ERA and 1.32 WHIP, and he's just as likely to give up seven runs as he is to pitch a shutout. Gibson has a solid matchup against the Nationals next, but absent deep NL-only leagues, you should have better options.
