Padres catcher Jorge Alfaro did not start on Tuesday. He was brought in late in the game on a double switch and ended up being the hero, earning a walk-off walk in a 4-3 win over the Dodgers.
Alfaro was initially going to be the goat if San Diego lost. He allowed a passed ball with two out and two on in the bottom of the ninth, sacking Josh Hader with another blown save. But he made up for it with another walkoff at-bat. Alfaro actually made a little history. He became the first catcher since Hall of Famer Ted Simmons in 1983 to have five walK-off RBI in the same season.
