Nestor Cortes Jr. pitched 7 1/3 innings, allowing zero runs on one hit and two walks while striking out 12 in New York’s 8-0 win against the Orioles on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact:
Cortez tied his career high with 12 strikeouts on Saturday. The lefty held Baltimore to just three base runners while pitching into the 8th inning for the fourth time this season and first since May 15. Cortes finishes the regular season 12-4 with a 2.44 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 163 strikeouts in 158 1/3 innings across 28 starts. He will still offer matchup-based value in the playoffs assuming he makes the postseason rotation with Gerrit Cole.
