Kevin Herget tallies first career loss in Boston

Kevin Herget allowed four runs, seven hits, and zero walks over 4 1/3 innings of work against the Red Sox on Monday. He struck out three batters and was charged with the loss as Tampa Bay ultimately fell to Boston by a score of 4-3.

Herget has allowed six earned runs over seven innings in his first season of big-league baseball. The 31-year-old has followed an improbable path since being drafted in the 39th round of the 2013 draft, but he needs to get on track soon in order to hold onto his roster spot.
