Zack Greinke fires six solid innings in no decision Monday

by Luke Monaldo | Royals Correspondent | Tue, Oct 4th 8:24am EDT

Zack Greinke pitched six innings, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out one in Kansas City’s 5-2 extra-inning win against the Guardians on Monday.

Fantasy Impact:

Greinke ended his season back in Kansas City on a high note, despite not kicking up the victory. It was more impressive coming on the road where he was 0-7 with a 5.32 ERA this season. Greinke’s losing record was deceiving especially with his 3.68 ERA, one that could have been lower had he not attempted to pitch through an injury for a few starts he got rocked in earlier in the summer. Greinke finishes the season 4-9 with a 3.68 ERA, 1.34 WHIP, and 73 strikeouts in 137 innings across 26 starts. Greinke will be a free agent and it remains to be seem if and where the 38-year-old will pitch next season.
