Gerrit Cole fans nine, walks zero in Game 2 loss Tuesday

Gerrit Cole pitched six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and zero walks while striking out nine in New York’s 3-2 loss to the Rangers in Game 2 of Tuesday’s doubleheader.

Fantasy Impact:

Cole finishes the regular season 13-8 with a 3.50 ERA, 1.02 WHIP, and 257 strikeouts in 20 2/3 innings across 33 starts. The strikeouts make him worth the early-round draft capital fantasy managers had to expend on Cole but 13-8 leaves something to be desired. Cole was dominant a lot of the year but threw up some clunkers as well. His strikeout totals will keep his ADP next season but he likely won’t be the first pitcher off the board in most leagues.
