James Paxton: Red Sox decline two-year player option

by Diego Sandoval | Red Sox Correspondent | Mon, Nov 7th 9:07pm EST

The Red Sox declined James Paxton's two-year player option worth $26 million on Monday and will await a decision on his one-year player option. (Alex Speier on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

There is still a chance that Paxton returns to Boston next season, as he has a player option worth $4 million. The 34-year-old has not pitched since 2021, and that was just in one appearance for Seattle before undergoing Tommy John surgery. His current injury status is a bit up in the air, so it will be interesting to see if the lefthander decides to bet on himself in free agency.
