Jon Lester takes the loss after carrying a no-hitter into the 7th inning

by Nathaniel Schwartz | Tue, Jul 7th 6:29am EDT

Jon Lester took a no-hitter through 6.1 innings, but had it broken up by Jhonny Peralta on a hard hit ground ball to third baseman Kris Bryant (immediately after ESPN flashed a graphic that stated Jon Lester had surrendered zero hits). Two runs would go on to score, but neither were charged to Lester. He finished up with eight strikeouts and two walks.

Fantasy Impact:

Lester is shaping into the the valuable fantasy piece that everybody believed he could be at the beginning of the season. His 15 strikeouts and zero earned runs over the past two starts paint Lester as a viable daily game candidate, but his lack of run support is cause for concern.
