Alfonso Rivas has signed a minor-league deal with the San Diego Padres. He has also received a non-roster invite to spring training. (Jeff Sanders on Twitter)
Fantasy Impact:
Rivas hit .235/.322/.307 with an 83 wRC+ in 101 games with the Cubs last season. He likely won't crack the Major League roster to start the season but could see an opportunity as a backup first baseman at some point.
