Dustin Pedroia (hamstring) will be activated from the disabled list on Friday after the All-Star break without going out on a rehab assignment first. (Brian McPherson on Twitter)

Dustin Pedroia could have been activated over the weekend but the Red Sox elected to give him some extra time to recover from his hamstring injury. Pedroia was having a strong first half before the injury hitting nine home runs and while hitting .306.
