Jon Lester takes no-hitter into the eighth inning and picks up the win

by Nathaniel Schwartz | Sun, Jul 19th 12:50pm EDT

Jon Lester managed to get back into the win column once again with 7.1 inning gem against Atlanta. He struck out seven men and only walked one. He took a no-hitter in the eighth inning, although a first inning Kris Bryant error was originally ruled a hit and was not changed until the sixth inning.

Fantasy Impact:

Lester has now taken a no-hitter past the sixth inning in two of his last three starts. His strikeout numbers have been pretty consistent, with an average 7.5 per game over his last four starts. Lester's lack of run support should be a concern for all fantasy owners, this game was the first time since June 20th that the Cubs scored more than two runs in a Jon Lester start.
