Anthony Rizzo homers for first time since All-Star Break

by Aaron Goldberg | Yankees Correspondent | Thu, Jul 30th 9:12am EDT

Anthony Rizzo went 1-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the Cubs' 3-2 win over Colorado on Wednesday. It was his first homer in roughly three weeks, as he hadn't done so since July 7th. He now has 17 home runs and 53 RBI to go with a .279/.393/.500 slash line.

Fantasy Impact:

It's about time. Rizzo has slumped badly over the last month, and hopefully this is a sign of a renewed player who was in the MVP discussion after the first two months of the season. The OBP is good, and walks are valuable in baseball, but a team needs middle of the order bats to drive in runs, and walks rarely do that. Rizzo is a great young player, but he will need to have more days like Wednesday to justify another top-15 selection in 2016 fantasy drafts.
