Matt Holliday heads back to the DL

by Vinny Lanni | Thu, Jul 30th 4:09pm EDT

St. Louis Cardinals leftfielder Matt Holliday left Wednesday night's 1-0 loss to the Cincinnati Reds with a right quadriceps strain. Holliday was injured in the first inning after running to first base on a double play ball. The seven-time All-Star had an MRI later in the night to determine the severity of the injury. The team said that an update on Holliday's condition would be announced on Thursday after he is re-evaluated. (Sports Illustrated)

Fantasy Impact:

It's been a frustrating season for Holliday owners, and now it has gotten even worse. The last time Holliday went on the DL, he missed a month of action. It's not known how long Holliday will be out for. If you have an extra DL spot for Holliday store him for the time being, if not, it may be time to cut ties.
