Matt Cain take the Bump against the Atlanta Braves

by Michael Valverde | Mon, Aug 3rd 7:19pm EDT

Matt Cain will try to get the San Francisco Giants started in the right direction as he faces the Atlanta Braves in a three-game series starting tonight, Cain (2-2, 4.50) has alternated between shaky and strong outings in five starts since missing the first three months of the season with a flexor tendon strain in his right arm. This should be his good outing as his last he gave up four runs and eight hits over six innings in Tuesday's 5-2 home loss to Milwaukee.

Fantasy Impact:

Matt Cain has struggled more than he has starred. He carries a 4.76 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP. In 17 innings he has struck out 14. He is a good mark for strikeouts but his ERA and WHIP really need attention. It will also be hard for him to pick up wins as the Giants just dont hit with much power, and their games are usually close down to the wire. Cain is 1-1 for the season.
