Marco Estrada excellent in win

by Marc Walton | Tue, Aug 4th 9:56pm EDT

Marco Estrada picked up his ninth win of the season Tuesday, as he went 6.2 innings allowing just one run on two hits, walking two and striking out five in the victory. Estrada was removed in the seventh inning as his pitch count had reached 103 for the night.

Fantasy Impact:

Estrada has been a breath of fresh air this season for a Jays team that was without an ace until the Price acquisition. Coming into the season there was speculation that Estrada wouldn't be good candidate to start games due to his propensity to give up the long ball, especially in the hitter friendly confines of the Rogers Centre. He has however stepped up big, giving up just 11 home runs, five of which have come at home. He holds a nice 3.40 ERA with a 1.11 WHIP, and 86 strikeouts in 111.1 innings pitched.
