Evan Longoria's blast not enough as Rays rally comes up short

by Mike Werner | Thu, Aug 6th 1:44am EDT

Evan Longoria went 3-for-5 with a homer, double, and two runs scored as the Rays went on to lose in extra innings to the White Sox Wednesday afternoon.

Fantasy Impact:

In a game where the Rays were down 5-0 at the end of the first, Longoria provided a spark. In the third, he doubled off White Sox rookie southpaw Carlos Rodon, and provided the Rays with their first run after Logan Forsythe proceeded to double the very next at-bat to drive him in. In the fifth, Longoria deposited a 92 mph fastball from the rookie over the center field wall to tighten the margin to 5-3. While Longoria isn't producing like he once was, his .279/.348/.435 line along with twelve homers, three stolen bases, 47 runs scored, and 48 RBI make him a low-upside, safe option for fantasy owners the rest of the way.
