Deja vu Fernando Rodney blows a save for the Mariners

by Dan Schalk | Thu, Aug 6th 9:29am EDT

Fernando Rodney entered the ninth inning with one out, but could only record one himself, while allowing two runs on two hits while walking two batters. The Mariners blew another ninth inning lead, eventually losing to the Rockies 7-5 in extra innings.

Fantasy Impact:

Rodney was given another chance by Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon to earn a save, but again, as usual, he could not succeed in doing so blowing his sixth save of the season. Rodney could very well be running out of chances to remain in the Mariners bullpen, not just in the closer role. With a 4-4 record and a 5.56 ERA, not many 38 year-old relievers would still have a job with those numbers.
