CC Sabathia rebounds with a six inning gem

by Sean Blank | Fri, Aug 7th 6:47am EDT

New York Yankees veteran lefty CC Sabathia finished out the three game set against Boston with one of his best starts of the season, throwing six innings of one run ball with eight strikeouts, three walks, and 3 hits. Sabathia's velocity was certainly present, along with the sharp slider that has made him so effective for years.

Fantasy Impact:

Considering Sabathia was coming off two games in a row in which he surrendered 10 earned runs, this was a refreshing performance to watch. He now lowered his ERA to 5.34 this season, but remained 4-8 after leaving the game with a no decision. I'd still be careful in how frequently you deploy Sabathia in all fantasy lineups, but this was somewhat encouraging. The lefthander will next take on the team where his career began, the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday.
