Kyle Seager continues streak of innings played

by John Trupin | Fri, Aug 14th 2:40pm EDT

Entering Friday's game, Seager has played 1,015 consecutive innings, the longest active streak in the Major Leagues. (Fangraphs)

Fantasy Impact:

Seager's consistency is one of his best features, though his value to the Mariners is slightly more pronounced than to his fantasy owners. A drawback of his heavy workload, however, is that he appears to tire down the stretch, and over the past four seasons has hit for a line of .233/.299/.373 and a wRC+ of 91 in the month of September in 439 plate appearances. It is possible that this has been poor luck, as his BABIP has dipped under .235 twice during September, compared to his .289 overall average for his career. The truth is likely somewhere in between. If you see an opportunity to move the 3B for value and your league deadline has not passed yet, it could be a shrewd decision going into the season's home stretch.
