Carlos Gomez stays trapped in Thursday shutout

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Fri, Aug 21st 8:17am EDT

Returning back to the lineup at center field during Thursday evening's 1-0 shutout loss to the Tampa Bay Rays, Carlos Gomez did not advance from the batter's box. He went 0-for-3 with a pair of fly outs and a ground out collectively in the game. Gomez has backslid on his average, down now to .248 on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

After battling some kind of flu the day before, it is understandable that Gomez would be trying to regain his baseball footing. However, the veteran outfielder has to regain himself soon. Otherwise, he may face some more pine riding in the near future. Fantasy holders, don't get too excited when it comes to Gomez. At least, not for the remainder of this season.
