Asdrubal Cabrera plays hero in Rays victory

by Mike Werner | Sun, Aug 23rd 5:15am EDT

Asdrubal Cabrera went 2-for-4 with a home run, and a game-winning two RBI double, to boost the Rays to a 5-4 victory over the Athletics on Saturday night.

Fantasy Impact:

Cabrera's homer was a solo-shot in the seventh inning, depositing a 1-2 curveball to the left-center bleachers to pull the Rays within one run. Then, with one out in the ninth and men on 2nd and 3rd in a one run game, Cabrera laced a Drew Pomeranz offering to the right-field corner to plate Tim Beckham and Logan Forsythe in what turned out to be the game-winning hit for the Rays. Cabrera has been white hot since coming off the disabled list, and is now up to nine bombs, 35 RBI, 5 stolen bases, and an improving .264/.313/.420 line.
