Evan Longoria swats solo-homer in Rays win

by Mike Werner | Wed, Sep 2nd 12:32am EDT

Evan Longoria hit a solo-homer in four at-bats to help lift the Rays to a 6-3 win over the Orioles Monday night.

Fantasy Impact:

The shot was off opposing southpaw Wei-Yin Chen in the fifth inning to make the score 5-0 in favor of the Rays. With about a month left in the season, Longoria should come close enough to last years numbers to not be a total bust this year, but those that expected 2011 production have surely been disappointed. Longoria heads into September sporting a .267/.328/.415 line with 15 home runs, 58 RBI, and even three stolen bases in 484 at-bats. There's a legitimate chance that he doesn't go in the top-10 among third baseman in drafts next season. Savvy fantasy owners should take notice.
