Paul Goldschmidt picks up 27th homer of the year

by Jack Keenan | Cardinals Correspondent | Wed, Sep 2nd 2:01pm EDT

National League MVP candidate Paul Goldschmidt added to his resume Thursday afternoon picking up his 27th home run of the year in a 5-3 diamondback win over the Rockies. That was Goldschmidt's only hit of the game but it was enough to help the Diamondbacks sweep the doubleheader. He is batting .322 on the year with 27 home runs and 97 RBIs.

Fantasy Impact:

Goldschmidt ranks inside the top ten in just about every offensive statistic in the National League. He has clearly been outstanding this season and should be the anchor of your fantasy team. Although costly, he always makes for a great pickup in daily fantasy because of his high average and outstanding power. Goldschmidt has been struggling a bit the past week batting just .219. Look for him to break out of this mini cold run and continue to be one of the best players in the league.
