Jimmy Rollins has productive game, appears entrenched in lead-off role

by Eric Westlund | Sat, Sep 5th 4:03pm EDT

Jimmy Rollins batted 2-for-4, walked twice, and scored twice on Friday against the Padres. Rollins usually doesn't draw many walks, but Padres starter James Shields was all over the place with his control. Rollins is still batting just .224/.280/.361 on the year, including .244/.306/.405 in the second half.

Fantasy Impact:

On Thursday, Rollins was given a rare day off and Joc Pederson returned to the #1 spot for the first time in a month, but Friday's lineup should confirm that Rollins will serve as Don Mattingly's lead-off man and starting shortstop for the rest of the season. He continues to be a useful fantasy shortstop despite the low batting average due to a power/speed combination that has produced 13 homers and 11 steals this year.
