Dustin Pedroia is not in the lineup Friday, Scott Lauber of the Boston Herald reports. Pedroia returned to the lineup Tuesday following a lengthy absence on the disabled list. (Scott Lauber on Twitter)

Dustin Pedroia has played two games since returning from the disabled list hitting 2 for 9 combined in the contests. Expect Pedroia to get plenty of time off the rest of the season as the Red Sox have no real reason to push him hard with the team out of contention.
