Stroman Scrapes By in Shaky Victory
by Jesse Garcia | Yankees Correspondent | Sun, Aug 11th 8:44pm EDT
Marcus Stroman earned a win despite a less-than-stellar performance, allowing one earned run on four hits and three walks while striking out only one over five innings in Sunday's 8-7 victory over the Rangers.
Fantasy Impact:
While Stroman managed to limit the damage to just one run, his low strikeout total and high walk rate in this outing continue to underscore his season-long struggles with command and an inability to miss bats. With a 4.01 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP over 23 starts this season, coupled with a modest 6.45 K/9 and a concerning FIP, Stroman's fantasy value remains a risky proposition. His win today, more a product of run support than pitching dominance, does little to boost confidence in his reliability as a fantasy starter moving forward.
