Alex Avila goes deep for Detroit in game two of double-header

by Julius Bzozowski | Mon, Sep 21st 11:08pm EDT

Alex Avila hit a home run on Monday in game two of a double-header versus the Chicago White Sox. He also contributed two walks, before being lifted for a pinch-runner in the bottom of the seventh inning. (ESPN)

Fantasy Impact:

Avila has seen his playing time behind the plate diminish with the rise of James McCann, but he contributed today when given the chance. Avila is still only hitting .194 on the season with four home runs and 12 RBI, and the 2011 Silver Slugger will definitely look to put this season behind him. It will be interesting to see if Avila will be kept around or what his role may be, especially now that James McCann has emerged as another viable starting catching option for the Tigers.
