by Brad Richter | Wed, Oct 7th 10:04am EDT

Molina was examined by a hand specialist on Monday and following the exam, Cardinals GM John Mozeliak said that the Cardinals were "optimistic" that Molina would be on the postseason roster. Molina has been out since September 20, when he injured his left thumb against the Cubs in a play at the plate. (Jenifer Langosch on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

The Cardinals would certainly welcome Molina back to the lineup for the postseason. Molina is a key member of the Cardinals World Series hopes from both a defensive and offensive perspective. Molina ended the year with a .270 average with four home runs and 61 RBI.
