Adrian Beltre suffers injury in ALDS opener

by Mitch Cox | Fri, Oct 9th 12:52am EDT

Adrian Beltre suffered a lower back strain after sliding into second base trying to break up a double play in the first inning of today's ALDS opener at Toronto. Beltre came up a couple innings later and was able to hit a single, but was barely able to get down to first base and was pulled from the game at that point.

Fantasy Impact:

Beltre, one of the league's hottest hitters since the first of September, will most certainly miss tomorrow's second game of the division series, and possibly more. The Rangers are flying in Joey Gallo and Ed Lucas as insurance should Beltre be out for an extended period. Hanser Alberto took over for Beltre at third for the rest of the game - a 5-3 Rangers victory.
