Clayton Kershaw outdueled by Jacob deGrom

Clayton Kershaw was great in Game 1 of the 2015 NLDS. Unfortunately, the Mets deGrom was amazing. Kershaw ended up allowing three earned runs, four hits, walked four, and struck out 11 in 6 2/3 innings. Three of the walks were issued in the seventh inning and two of the earned runs were charged after reliever Pedro Baez allowed a single to David Wright with the bases loaded. 75-of-113 pitches were thrown for strikes.

Fantasy Impact:

Kershaw finished as the #3 overall player on the ESPN Player Rater. He struck out a career high 301 batters over 232 2/3 innings and finished the regular season with a 2.13 ERA and 0.881 WHIP. It's unfortunate that his playoff stats have been underwhelming: 4.99 ERA, 22 walks, 69 strikeouts, and 7 home runs allowed in 57 2/3 innings. Don't let that stop you from selecting Kershaw as one of the first pitchers in 2016.
