Clay Buchholz likely to return to Red Sox

While nothing has been made official, Red Sox President Dave Dombrowski seemed to indicate that the team would exercise in one year, $13 million option on Clay Buchholz in 2016. Buchholz finished 2015 with a 7-7 record, 3.26 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 113.1 innings. The 30 year old last pitched on July 10th before being shut down with elbow soreness. (John Tomase - WEEI)

Fantasy Impact:

2015 was a fair representation of what Clay Buchholz brings to the table. Occasional ace-like stuff mixed in with a few clunkers to produce an above average pitcher for about half of the season. While its likely that Boston will acquire at least one starting pitcher this off season, they are still well equipped depth wise to keep a guy like Buchholz in their rotation. For fantasy purpose its probably best to look at Buchholz as your own depth option as you'll be lucky to even get 150 innings out of him.
