Clay Buchholz has 2016 option excercised

The Red Sox have picked up Clay Buchholz's 2016 option that will pay the 31 year old starter $13 million. Because Boston chose to exercise the option another $13.5 million option was also triggered for the 2017 season. Buchholz finished 2015 with a 7-7 record tossing 113.1 innings to the tune of a 3.26 ERA. (Ryan Hannable- WEEI)

Fantasy Impact:

It doesn't come as much of a surprise that the Red Sox chose to keep Buchholz under contract for at least one more season. It has also been widely speculated that Buchholz could find himself in a different uniform in 2016 as new baseball chief Dave Dombrowski looks to tweak the Red Sox roster where ever possible. Regardless of where Buchholz winds up in 2016 he should only be drafted with the expectation that he will provide you with 100-130 innings of mostly above average starting pitching.
