Fantasy Impact:
Volpe, who described feeling a "pop" in his left shoulder in May, has continued to play through the injury. This injury could be a factor in his struggles this season, including a .206/.268/.393 slash line and defensive issues. While Yankees manager Aaron Boone praised Volpe as a "very tough kid and a gamer," he acknowledged he shouldn't rule out the possibility that the shoulder has impacted Volpe's performance. With Volpe receiving a cortisone shot, Jose Caballero started at shortstop on Wednesday and is likely to see more playing time as Boone says the team will now be in a "day-to-day mode" for the position.
