Starlin Castro

Starlin Castro traded to Yankees

Starlin Castro has been traded to the New York Yankees, apparently taking over 2B for the Yankees over the next three seasons at a minimum. Castro has $38 million left on his contract and would be an offensive upgrade for the Yankees at second base. Adam Warren and a player to be named later are headed to Chicago. Fantasy Impact:

Starlin Castro is a three-time All Star, six-year veteran who will just be 26 this year and would be a top-10 2B in the American League at Yankees Stadium. Warren was 7-7 with a 3.29 ERA in 17 games, five starts, so the Yankees got the 2B for a relatively low rate. Castro had lost range and needed to move off of SS, and was thought to have had to move to the outfield in Chicago, but still had a 89 OPS+ over the past three seasons, had 150 or more hits for five consecutive seasons, and had 207 hits at 21 years old. Even if this is a buy-low opportunity for the Yankees, they did not make to give up a lot for Castro and his permanent move to 2B will keep him valuable for fantasy owners.
