Wei-Yin Chen signs with Miami Marlins

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Jan 12th 1:31pm EST

Wei-Yin Chen signed a five-year deal with the Marlins, moving a key piece off of the market. He signed an $80 million deal and can opt out of the contract after two years. Chen had a 3.34 ERA with the Orioles in 2015 and has a 3.44 over the last two seasons. (Buster Olney on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Chen has progressively seen his ERA drop over the last three seasons, but had a 4.16 FIP in 2015, as he has allowed more than a hit per inning over his career. He also does not give much in the way of strikeouts, as he has averaged seven strikeouts per nine for his career. The Marlins will not help Chen in the way of wins and he will be best suited as a spot starter on fantasy teams.
