Matt Harvey poised for huge season in 2016

by Nick Ritrivi | Mon, Mar 7th 1:34pm EST

Now two years removed from Tommy John surgery, Matt Harvey is ready for a huge season in 2016. After missing all of 2014, Harvey was 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 188 Ks in 189 IP in 2015. Adam Wainwright, who has also recovered from Tommy John surgery and saw his ERA drop a full run in his second year removed from surgery, expects a huge year from Harvey (NY Post)

Fantasy Impact:

Harvey has a current overall FantasyPros ECR of 42 (mixed leagues) and ECR of 11 for pitchers (mixed leagues). He should challenge Jacob deGrom as Mets' staff ace in 2016. While there is risk in drafting Harvey based on the injury history (although the risk is much less being two years removed from TJ surgery) and potential innings limitations, Harvey should exceed his 2015 numbers. He makes a great staff ace option in deeper 12-14 team leagues and is certainly an excellent SP2 in more shallow leagues.
