David Wright expects to be ready Opening Day

David Wright won't appear in a Spring Training game for at least another week, but the veteran still believes he'll be ready for the start of the regular season. (Mets.MLB.com)

The Mets have allowed Wright to prepare for the season more slowly than normal, putting him behind this spring. The hope is that this will provide him with more rest and help the back issues that he's dealt with in the past. After struggling mightily in 2014, Wright was limited to 38 games last season. He was effective when he played in 2015, but injuries limited him. The Mets hope to avoid these extended absences in 2016.
