Brian McCann does not play on Friday, a must-start on Saturday

by Chris Zolli | Sat, Apr 9th 11:32am EDT

An afternoon game for the Yankees meant that a lot of everyday starters sat; one of those players was C Brian McCann. The normal Yankee catcher had the afternoon off, as Austin Romine started at catcher.

Fantasy Impact:

McCann sitting out on Friday was a disappointment for fantasy owners on Friday, but he has been the best catcher in fantasy baseball to open the season and is primed for a huge day on Saturday. The Yankees' catcher has a .455 batting average, two extra base hits, three RBI, and five runs scored in just 11 at-bats this season, yielding a piping hot 1.357 OPS. Saturday should yield huge results for McCann as well, as McCann has faced Saturday's starter, Mike Pelfrey, in 42 at-bats in his career, posting a 1.316 OPS, 10 extra base hits, and 11 RBI. He is a foundational piece at catcher for DFS lineups today.
