Colby Rasmus shows real power in home opener

by James Ignatius Zeankowski | Tue, Apr 12th 12:15am EDT

Veteran outfielder Colby Rasmus put on quite the hitting display in the home opener on Monday evening against the world champion Kansas City Royals. He went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a bunt single. Though he did also have a pair of strikeouts, Rasmus maintains a stellar .333 average this season.

Fantasy Impact:

It remains a mystery that a player with the power that Rasmus possesses still ranks only at #77 among outfielders, and in the 300's overall among all players in the league. A career OPS in the .750s is nothing to write home about, but is still good enough for spot starts or to be on your bench. Rasmus is certainly a player to have around in a pinch, especially if his current 1.141 OPS holds up.
