Victor Martinez knocked in his fourth RBI of the season in a 7-4 loss to the Pirates on Monday afternoon, part of a 1-for-4 outing. Martinez has a .231 batting average to open the season.
Fantasy Impact:
Martinez had pinch-hit home runs in the first two games of the season against the Marlins, but was held hitless in his two starts against the Yankees over the weekend. His statistics are a bit skewed, as he has two home runs in 13 at-bats, but the two home runs are solid indicators that Martinez could regain his power stroke from 2014. Considering that Martinez was mostly ignored in fantasy drafts, if Martinez can post 25 home runs and 90 RBI, he would be a great option as a utility player in mixed leagues.
