Starlin Castro drives in a run on Thursday

by Chris Zolli | Fri, Apr 22nd 8:11am EDT

Starlin Castro was hitting out of the two-hole for the Yankees on Thursday night and drove in his 10th run of the season in the 7-3 loss to the Athletics. Although he was able to drive in that run, Castro's final line was 1-for-5 with three strikeouts. He has a .273 batting average this season.

Fantasy Impact:

Castro opened his Yankee career as good as anyone could have hoped, but he has slowed down considerably over the last two weeks. His batting average his dipped from .400 to .273 over the last 10 games and his RBI yesterday was his last since April 12. The Yankees and fantasy owners could not have expected that Castro would be a top-tier 2B, so the highs and lows need to be taken in stride. By the end of the season, expect Castro to have enough of opportunities to be a top-10 2B with contributions in every counting statistic and a batting average in the mid-.270s or low-.280s.
