Adrian Gonzalez does not start, does not contribute with pinch-hit

by Chris Zolli | Tue, Apr 26th 7:33am EDT

Adrian Gonzalez did not start on Monday against the Marlins, but was called on in a pinch-hit opportunity for the Dodgers in their 3-2 loss against the Marlins. Gonzalez struck out in the ninth inning, but still has a .347 batting average this season.

Fantasy Impact:

For the second straight season, Adrian Gonzalez is white-hot to open the season and, although he will not touch last April's 1.222 OPS, he has a .932 OPS with 15 RBI for the Dodgers thus far. Gonzalez has consistently proven that he is a top-10 1B, but he needs to have a full season of April/May production to be a top-five 1B. Even with late season struggles, Gonzalez is a safe bet for a batting average near .300, 30 or more home runs, and 100 or more RBI.
