Anibal Sanchez not worthy of a roster spot

by Chris Zolli | Fri, Apr 29th 9:46pm EDT

Anibal Sanchez has been up and down in 2016, mostly down, and his 6.00 ERA should keep him off of even the deepest roster. He has a 3-2 record after opening the season 2-0 and has an awful 1.86 WHIP and .295 batting average. He will face the Indians on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

When a pitcher has a batting average allowed near .300, it is bad and when he leads the league in walks allowed, it is also bad; when he fulfills both, that makes him unownable. On the positive side, Sanchez has allowed two runs in three of his five starts this season and does have strikeout performances of eight and nine, but his inability to keep runner's off base ruins his value. He has 135 at-bats against current Indians and Cleveland has a .791 OPS against the right-hander with Yan Gomes posting a 6-for-11 line with two home runs and seven RBI.
