Ryan Howard provides only run in win over Cardinals

by Kerry Kauffman | Tue, May 3rd 11:10pm EDT

The Phillies improved to 16-11 with a 1-0 win over the Cardinals on Tuesday. The Phillies got just five hits, but got the big blow from Ryan Howard, who belted his sixth home run of the season. He also struck out twice in three at-bats and is now batting .190 for the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Howard is having a strange season statistically. He's on pace to hit 36 home runs, but hit under .200 with nearly 200 strikeouts. Clearly at this stage of his career, Howard is an all-or-nothing, strikeout or bust kind of hitter. Owners should only consider Howard if desperate for power.
