Ryan Howard sees average continue to tumble

by Kerry Kauffman | Sat, May 7th 11:58pm EDT

Ryan Howard knocked in a run in the Phillies 4-3 win over the Marlins on Friday, but saw his average drop to .185 for the season after going 0-for-3. He also struck out for the 35th time in 92 at-bats. On a positive note, he has seven home runs and 15 RBI for the season.

Fantasy Impact:

Howard is one of the most frustrating players for fantasy owners. He's on pace for 37 home runs and nearly 80 RBI, but provides nothing else. One must wonder if he can keep up the home run base, given the fact he has struck out 38 percent of his at-bats. Owners with an abundance of power may wish to pass on Howard, but those in desperate need of the long ball would likely overlook the "all or nothing" production Howard has to offer.
