James Shields takes the loss against the Mets

by Dan Harris | Sun, May 8th 1:29pm EDT

James Shields fell to 1-5 with Saturday's loss to the Mets. He allowed four runs over six innings, striking out eight. He now has a 3.60 ERA on the season.

Fantasy Impact:

It's one thing to get outdueled by Bartolo Colon, but it's another to allow his first home run and become a permanent part of baseball lore. Shields is just allowing too many baserunners this year with a 1.33 WHIP, and probably won't win many games while pitching for the Padres. He's a back-end of the rotation option only at this point, including in his next start against the Brewers.
