Madison Bumgarner has regained ace form

by Chris Zolli | Sun, May 8th 3:14pm EDT

Madison Bumgarner has earned three wins in a row after falling to 1-2 on the season on April 20 and has pitched six or more innings in four consecutive starts after averaging 5 1/3 innings pitched in his first three starts. His WHIP is still inflated at 1.33 because he has allowed a hit per inning this season, but he has 55 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched this season. He will pitch against Toronto on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact:

Bumgarner fell victim to the home run early, allowing five home runs in his first four starts, but has not allowed a home run in three starts and had 10 strikeouts in his last start on Friday against the Rockies. His very high hits per nine is alarming, but he still has a 3.93 K:BB ratio, as he has the second-most strikeouts in the National League, his four wins rank third in the National League. He does not have a lot of experience against Blue Jays hitters, but Troy Tulowitzki has owned Bumgarner, hitting .379 with two home runs in 29 at-bats.
