Andrelton Simmons suffers sprained thumb

by Blaine Blontz | Mon, May 9th 10:18am EDT

Andrelton Simmons was forced to exit Sunday's game after injuring his wrist. He suffered the injury while making a diving stop in the field. He's been diagnosed with a sprained thumb. The team will determine the extent of the injury Monday. (Mike DiGiovanna on Twitter)

Fantasy Impact:

Hopefully, this isn't similar to Jhonny Peralta's injury which is sidelining him for an extended stretch. The team should provide more info Monday, likely with an expected time frame or a move to the disabled list. Simmons was struggling mightily at the plate this year (.526 OPS) and likely wasn't counted on in many fantasy leagues. Cliff Pennington is the team's backup at SS.
